Privacy, in plain words
omen is a daily number game. It keeps as little about you as it can, and never asks for your identity. Here is the whole story. Last updated 20 July 2026.
What we store
- A functional cookie (oid). A random id set in your browser so the game can remember your streak and predictions between visits. It lasts about 400 days, is HttpOnly, and carries no name, email or location. It is strictly necessary for the game to work.
- An optional oracle name + password. Only if you choose to create an oracle. The password is stored one-way hashed (scrypt with a random salt), never in plain text. We ask for no email, so there is no password reset: lose it and the account is gone.
- Your game data. The numbers you predict, points, wins, streaks and season standings. That is what the leaderboard is built from.
- Whimsical counters. Aggregate totals like "omens read" and "calls placed". These are just numbers, tied to no one.
What we do not store
- No email address, phone number or real name (unless you volunteer one as your oracle name).
- No advertising or cross-site tracking profile. We do not sell or share data.
- No IP addresses in our own database. Our hosting/CDN may process request metadata (including IP) transiently to serve and protect the site, as any web host does.
Analytics
We use a privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics tool (Umami, served from wiadro.24h.sh) to count page views and rough referrers. It is configured to avoid personal profiles. If you would rather not be counted, a browser content blocker or "do not track" style extension will stop the script; the game still works fully without it.
Your choices & your rights
You can play entirely as a guest, with no name attached. If you created an oracle you can delete everything we hold about you at any time from your account page ("Delete my oracle & all data"). That erases your account, predictions, stats and any hall-of-fame entry, immediately and permanently. Clearing your browser cookies also detaches your current guest identity.
If you are in a region with data-protection rights (e.g. the EU/EEA under the GDPR), those rights of access and erasure are honoured by the same self-service delete, since we hold nothing tied to you beyond what is described above.
